Employee Training
Request
In coordination with the Department of State, Kiron addressed the need for effective employment training in Jordan to promote economic growth and create jobs for the unemployed and youth populations.
Results
The objectives were accomplished within one year by conducting a comprehensive labor market study to determine employment skills needed by current businesses and future growth industries. Existing vocational training programs were enhanced and training curriculum was revised. Job placement strategies were developed resulting in placement of over 500 participants. Over 300 new individuals were enrolled in the program over the course of the first 6 months. On-the-job training was implemented for over half of the trainees.
The program resulted in a framework for enhanced employment training in Jordan, created a new training model, integrated underemployed and marginalized groups at all program levels – as recipients of training, trainers in workforce development centers, and managers in the program. Additionally, the project advocated for reform of existing labor laws and educated the public on improvements to workforce training programs. The creation of a Workforce Development Council advised and guided future changes and added value to the sustainability of the program.
